Charming, dual skiing areas
Skiing holidays in the Paradiski area are not only an attractive experience because of the the French Alpine scenery and the unique mountain panorama at more than 3,000 metres in height. On both sides of the valley, the individual ski stations possess a more than attractive ambience, combined with a varied leisure programme.
New hotel and apartment arrangements in the Savoy village chalet style in the ski stations of Arc 1950, Plan Peisey and Vallandry put their stamp on the skiing area of Les Arcs, which also offers the skiing holiday experience in original and affectionately restored villages such as Villaroger. Especially impressive is also the new Les Arcs style, which was created at the skiing haven of Le VillageArc in 1950. The settlement, surrounded by Arolla pine forests, with a 60 metre high waterfall, a shopping street and 4-storied luxury residences has developed into a comfortable holiday centre. In the other, larger stations too, numerous restaurants, bars, discotheques, cinemas, fitness centres and shopping malls provide off-piste entertainment and guarantee holiday pleasure and pure leisure fun. The ski slopes, which begin and end right outside your front door, leave nothing to be desired.
La Plagne, which lies like an alpine pasture between the Isère valley and the 3,400 metre high Dôme de Bellecôte, belongs to the first generation of the Savoy-based ski stations which originated at the beginning of the 1960's. Today in Belle Plagne and PlagneCentre, comfortable apartment settlements are to be found. Moreover, the small villages of Champagny, Montalbert and Montchavin, with their manageable local centres and pleasant summer cottages, are especially attractive, and are all connected directly to the skiing area.
Winter sports in every variation
Glaciers, high summits and countless ski slopes for professionals and beginners alike in Les Arcs and La Plagne create an Alpine ski paradise. With a total of eight Snowparks – three of them boardercross – and 2 halfpipes also appeal greatly to snowboarders and freeskiers. However, this is not all: The Paradiski skiing area has created nearly 160 kilometres of cross-country trails, making it a Mecca for cross-country skiing fans, whilst offering interesting and regionally attractive circuits in practically every area of the skiing range. In particular it is the cross-country trails in Champagny le Haut which can be recommended, a high valley lined with a cliff face, with a view of the mighty Grand Casse in the Vanoise National Park. From Champagny one can reach the high valley either by bus or by car.
The complete winter sports offer of both of these skiing areas is rounded off with the most varied of winter footpaths and Nordic Walking routes. In addition, the opportunity of a snow-shoe trek should not be missed by Paradiski visitors. In Montchavin-Les Coches in La Plagne, forest walks at the break of dawn are offered, which also include breakfast, as well as evening treks to the tepee village, which includes a campfire and dinner. Last but not least, the Paradiski area also has to offer something special for passionate tobogganists. On an original Olympic bobsleigh and toboggan run, the fearless can race over a course of over 1.5 kilometres with a total of 19 curves through the ice channel – this can be done either alone or in a group, and with automatic controls or with the help of a professional bobsleigh pilot.
By the way, the offer available for small ski professionals provides for relaxing skiing holidays for both large and small. In addition to the free ski passes for all children up to 5 years of age, in La Plagne as well as in Les Arcs there are child exercise areas, kindergartens, ski-based kindergartens and children's ski schools.
